Popular Forklift Attachments Available from Apex

Carton Clamp attachments - safely handle cartons, crates, and boxes with uniform arm movement for a secure grip. Adjustable clamp-force relief helps protect products, while quick-disconnect lower hooks simplify attachment changes.

Multiple load handlers - transport one or more pallets at a time. Multiple forks shift hydraulically to allow secure pickup and transport of one or two pallets side by side.

Fork positioners & side shifter attachments - move fork tines (left and right) to adjust to load changes with hydraulic efficiency and accuracy. Speed the inventory handling process and minimize labor and equipment expenses.

Layer pickers - pallet building one or more layers at a time is made possible with this clever device. Layer picking is a highly efficient way to increase pick rates and reduce labor costs.

Rotators - allow for loads to be rotated 360° frequently used in food processing, manufacturing and dumping.

Push/Pull slip sheeters - for non-palletized inventory on slip sheets. The attachment includes a gripper bar that latches onto the slip sheet to enable the operator to pull the load onto the platens for lifting.

Forklift Attachments - a Weighty Decision

Forklift attachments change how a truck handles, brakes, and lifts. That means they also change your risk profile—overloading, tip-overs, falling loads, and hydraulic failures become more likely if operators aren’t trained for the new setup.

Because attachments alter forklift performance, OSHA requires operator retraining when new attachments are added or existing ones are changed. Operators must understand how attachments affect visibility, stability, and rated capacity so they can spot risks before they turn into incidents.

Smart safety practices with forklift attachments:

  • Respect capacity limits. Never exceed the combined rated capacity of the forklift and attachment.

  • Mind load stability. Attachments shift the load center—forward or laterally—which increases the chance of a tip-over if loads are not positioned correctly.

  • Use attachments as designed. Avoid side-loading, pushing, or using an attachment as a battering ram unless it’s specifically engineered and approved for that task.

  • Maintain visibility. Attachments and larger loads can obstruct the operator’s view; adjust travel speed, route, and use a spotter when needed.

  • Drive like you’re loaded. Attachments add weight even with no load, so treat an “empty” truck with an attachment as partially loaded.

  • Follow manufacturer guidelines. Each attachment has unique operating limits, inspection steps, and maintenance requirements.
